First Steps 2008
(completed)

R&B Academia of Communications CIC ran a course during the summer of 2008 for home students in two different centres in Rusholme and Longsight areas in Manchester.

It was a four weeks workshop project for different levels taught by fully qualified ESOL tutors in order to give asylum seekers and refugees, who have recently entered the UK or who has been here but never been to English classes, an experience of taster classes that would be a guide for them how the classes run during the year.

In Rusholme Children's Centre, the project ran only for parents who wished to take part and improve their communication skills.

By the end of the workshops, all students gained more self confidence and learned new things and socialised with other people who were in the same situation. They shared their knowledge and experiences gained during their stay in the UK with each other.

All students had to take a test at the end of the course in order to  be granted a Certificate of Completion.
